Reader of the Month – March 2023

Hi there and welcome to my reader of the month feature.

This month it’s the turn of Donna Wallace who is answering some bookish questions.

She has chosen In His Shadow as her free signed paperback – a thank you for taking part.

What are your 3 favourite domestic thrillers (by any author) of all time?

Flowers in the attic by V.C.Andrews Rose Madder by Stephen King Frenemy by your beautiful self.

Why do you like domestic thrillers?

Initially domestic thrillers weren’t my kind of read until I heard that the flowers in the attic book was far better than the film & since then I’ve been hooked.

Do you prefer eBook, print or audio?

I do own a kindle my partner bought me for convenience but nothing beats the feel of a new paper book in your hands.

Which fictional domestic thriller character (in any book) have you cared about the most?

Definitely Cathy from flowers in the attic.

Which fictional domestic thriller character have you hated about the most?

Unfortunately I’d have to say Donna from frenemy especially since I’m also a Yorkshire donna & she is letting the side down.

What are your thoughts on prologues?

I really like a good prologue as I feel it gets you right in the mood for a binge reading few hours.

Series or Standalone?

I prefer standalone books but only because I have no patience to wait to find out what happens next.

Do you prefer an ending where everything is tied up, or one where you can infer what might happen next?

I much prefer when everything is completely tied up & finished by the end of the book, I’m a terrible overthinker so months later I would still be coming up with my own ideas with what’s happening now.

And what are your thoughts on epilogues?

I think every standalone book needs an epilogue simply for the closure.

How many books do you read each month on average?

I’d love to say loads but I think it’s more like 2 or 3.

Which domestic thriller do you wish you could read again for the first time?

Can I count Misery as a domestic thriller since it all happens in her house? …I love that book.

How many books do you have on the go at once?

I’ve actually got 2 books on the go right now but normally I’d only be reading 1 until finished.

Favourite place to read?

In my bedroom wrapped up with my blanket & a hot chocolate.

Favourite Time to Read?

Any time is my favourite time.

Coffee or tea? Or something stronger?

Definitely hot chocolate for reading.

Thanks again Donna – it’s lovely to get to know you better and your free book, In His Shadow, is on its way.

I’ll be choosing April’s Reader of the Month next week so keep an eye on your inboxes…
