Reader of the Month – May 2023

Introducing May’s reader of the month!

This month, it’s Rachel Fournier who is answering some bookish questions and has sent this gorgeous photo of herself.

She has chosen The Last Cuckoo, (my debut novel,) as her free signed paperback – a thank you for taking part.

What are your 3 favourite psychological thrillers (by any author) of all time?

A life for a life by you - that was my first book of yours I read which got me into your amazing books.

Don’t let her stay by Nicola Sanders.

The surrogate mother by Freida Mcfadden.

Why do you like psychological thrillers?

I love how they suck me in and keep me on the edge of my seat, guessing what will happen next and how will they end.

I love if there are twists that I don’t guess which blow my mind .

Do you prefer eBook, print or audio?

love all 3 for different reasons.

The feel of a paper book is the best but audio is so handy so I can listen while I clean or exercise.

But I also love my kindle - it’s so convenient.

Which fictional psychological thriller character (in any book) have you cared about the most?

Lou in Frenemy.

Which fictional psychological thriller character have you hated about the most?

Donna in Frenemy was the worst.

What are your thoughts on prologues?

I love them! I love knowing as much detail as possible.

Series or Standalone?

I love both but stand-alones are nice so you don’t have to worry about waiting to get your hands on the next books to know how it all ends.

Do you prefer an ending where everything is tied up, or one where you can infer what might happen next?

Tied up please!

And what are your thoughts on epilogues?

I love them! I like knowing how things end up and a lot of the time the meaning of the book is there.

How many books do you read each month on average?

7

Which psychological thriller do you wish you could read again for the first time?

A life for a life by you.

How many books do you have on the go at once?

Usually 3. One on my kindle. One paper and one on audio.

Favourite place to read?

In my bed with a hot tea.

Favourite Time to Read?

After my son is asleep for the night so I can read uninterrupted.

Coffee or tea? Or something stronger?

Tea or whisky.

Thanks again Rachel (and for persevering with the techy problems!) – it’s lovely to get to know you better and your free book, The Last Cuckoo is on its way to you.

I’ll be choosing June’s Reader of the Month over the next week or two, so keep an eye on your inboxes…
