I can’t wait for this event on Saturday (1 July) at which I’m reading my work at 2:40 pm as part of the organised ‘Open Mic’ event. I am also attending a workshop with Simon Armitage, one of my favourite contemporary poets. I always advise my students to immerse themselves into the world of writing and to ‘live as a writer.’ This event in Howarth is definitely an opportunity to do that. Writing can be such a solitary activity that I’m looking forward to spending an entire day listening to and working with other writers.
